Coronado BF10 straight-through conversion?
Since I only image, having a straight-through version of my BF10 would be nice. Has anyone in here done this? On paper, it seems pretty straightforward. But I bet it's not, or more people would have done it!
Clear sunny skies!

Re: Coronado BF10 straight-through conversion?
Yeap, its fine to do. There's nothing special going on with the diagonal. It's a basic star diagonal. The eyepiece side has the blocking filter. It's usually glued on (the 1.25" nose is glued, you'd have to break that adhesive to unthread it).
I converted one to straight through and even added a helical focuser to it, just to have more options to play with distances.
Very best,

Just wondering if this can be done with the Lunt wedge too.

No, with the Lunt wedge the filters are mounted in the diagonal body rather then the nosepiece sections.Stardust5858 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 2:48 pm Just wondering if this can be done with the Lunt wedge too.

Re: Coronado BF10 straight-through conversion?
Shouldn't matter, there's no optics that re-focus the light cone, just passes it through. Ideally make it as short as possible, but without masking the light cone. It's always easier to get distance out of the focuser, than back focus into the focuser.
Here's a straight through conversation and I even added a helical focuser:
Here's the BF retro fitted into an eyepiece barrel basically (or the 1.25" nose of any diagonal):
