Don't honestly know yet. I'd think any reduction in front surface reflection would be a positive for a solar wedge...I was more interested in the surface optical accuracy.
I'll keep you posted on the Herchel Wedge build.

Well the "military wedge" arrived today...what a fantastic piece of glass!!
It looks as if it has a 1mm thick protective plate on the front, a crown wedge section and a reversed flint rear wedge section. It seems to be a constant deviation prism..about 9 degrees
The front and rear surfaces are AR coated.
It certainly looks like a great solution for a Herschel wedge.
The front surface is 56mm x 60mm elliptical.

I'll post a couple of images later...
I've just found the Meade 2" diagonal will fit the wedge nicely. Just rummaging around the workshop to find some aluminium plate for the back end deflector.
I was thinking of making a "Cool" version using some refractory cement to form a heat sink...
