Hello guys and gals,
First post here, so please be gentle :
I bought a Lunt l60 PT in summer after many months of deliberation, and am now waiting for a 50mm DS Etalon to arrive. I'm very pleased with the Lunt, but as always, more aperture beckons.
I'm really interested in some of the outstanding work that's been evidenced here, but I am not at all knowledgeable when it comes to optics, calculations etc. I would love to be able to get a achromatic 120mm (Skywatcher) and use it to get more resolution. As I understand it, I'd need an ERF behind the objective, then the 50mm Etalon, then the L60 etalon. Finally the focuser and BF.
How realistic is this for a noob to do?
Also, Lunt are now selling achromatic telescopes. Has anyone used these to get more aperture?

Re: Lunt L60 PT. more aperture
Hi Stephen
welcome to that wonderful TOS free site. Have sun, have fun and mod ;-) (Most easely done with a PST)
I would not start with a LUNT 60 mod, and not at all with a LUNT 60 mod double stack. Usually the ERF is up front, makes life easier. Behind the objektiv needs fiddling around inside the scope

Re: Lunt L60 PT. more aperture
Hello
Personally I am not sure that its possible or recommended.
However there is quite a community of PST modders on here with achromats upto 150mm.
I recently put one together using a PST and 100mm achromat.

Hey there! Welcome to this funky place
Honest answer (and being gentle!) - for a noob, very unrealistic. Get used to and understand the nuances of your Lunt in current form before you start dissecting it and start making a frankenscope. Take time to have a good read in this mods section first.

Re: Lunt L60 PT. more aperture
Hmm...more complicated than I expected. I've been lurking on here for a while and am intrigued by some of the frankenscopes.
I don't want to knacker (technical term for "wreck") a £2000 scope
I have a spare ED80 kicking about, so I might pick up a 2nd hand PST and a ERF and have a play with that. I assume that the BF1200 from the Lunt would be suitable in the focuser?

Re: Lunt L60 PT. more aperture
Sorry to add to the negatives but an ED80 would not be a suitable donor scope for a PST mod, the objective needs to be F10 or longer. Anyway, welcome to this site, the best place for getting you on track.
