Hi All,
I expect to cut my TAL100RS this weekend, to get the etalon positioned 200 inside the focal point and to internally mount the 75mm D-ERF.
I believe I have all the components required to allow me to try and get 1st light - adaptors for the front and back of the etalon, helical focuser, D-ERF, fixed lens mount etc.
I do have a couple of questions though. My PST is an early version that does not have the ITF below the EP holder. It does have an ERF at the bottom of the collar that holds the EP. I have not yet managed to remove the lower collar that the 5mm ERF if attached to. Do I need to have this ERF in the light path prior to viewing through the modified scope?
If / when I do manage to remove the lower collar, is it possible to screw this into an 1.25 inch diagonal?
I hope I am not asking a question that has already been covered. I have a vague recollection of reading something about it, but cannot find where.
Thank you in advance.

Re: ERF below the EP holder
Hi Ian
I would have the same question as Robert. There must be some where behind the ERF/ITF a blocking filter. I'm sure Ken will chim in, he knows the setup of the early PST's

Re: ERF below the EP holder
to answer to your questions : yes the pst eyepiece collar can be screw on a 1.25 diagonal like this :
next question : to be sure, here a PST description
If your PST is a real 1st generation the front lens should be bluish as it's also playing an ITF rule. In this case there is no optic in the "ERF" (in fact ITF) collar like on the picture.
If this is the case, it mean that you need to buy an 1.25" ITF filter and the best choice for the moment looks to be here adding on top a Ha/deep red filter
Otherwise, no problem! you have a ITF!

Re: ERF below the EP holder
Hello Ian,
Nice to here that your mod is progressing nicely.
I had the same problem as you, my PST did not have a separate ITF trim filter as it had the blue objective lens up front.
I am currently using the B600 off my LS35THa whilst I await delivery of the Coronado BF10 which I ordered from the States.
The filter option linked by DSobserver seems to be a good alternative.

Ian. I'm back from Tenerife on the 14th, if you still have any issues outstanding by then you could call over and have a look at a completed 100RS/PST mod.

Hi All,
Thank you all very much for the replies. I think I may have confused some of you with my initial rambling post and a misleading title to the the thread.
To try and clarify things:
1. The title should probably have read "Blocking Filter below the PST EP holder.
2. My PST is an early version that does not have the ITF below the EP holder. It does have an ERF at the bottom of the collar that holds the EP. I have not yet managed to remove the lower collar that the 5mm ERF if attached to.
This should have read "It does have a BF at the bottom of the PST EP holder. I have not yet managed to remove the lower collar that screws into the black box".
I have now managed to remove the lower collar that screws into the black box. It required me to use my wifes hair drier to apply some heat and then apply some considerable pressure with a boa type wrench. When I did remove it the threads were well and truly coated with thread lock!
3. Do I need to have this ERF in the light path prior to viewing through the modified scope?
I now realise how silly this was. I should have said blocking filter and of course this needs to be in the light path. I also realise that I need to purchase an ITF such as the one mentioned in this thread:- http://solarchat.natca.net/index.php/en ... ing-filter
4. I have managed to make some progress with my TAL 100RS PST Stage 2 mod. I have cut a slot in the main TAL tube to allow me to internally mount a D-ERF, I will upload some images soon.
I hope I have gone someway to clarify my orininal post and thank you one again for everyones replies.

Re: ERF below the EP holder
Ian,
Sounds good....
Just remember to mount the internal ERF as close behind the objective as you can without vignetting......
