I am new to Solar observing. I have on order a new PST. Previously, I purchased a used Coronado 40mm filter with a BF 10 blocking diagonal for use in one of my refractors. Now, I want to double stack the old 40mm etalon onto the front of the PST. I understand that the image will not be quite as bright but it should show more detail - right. How do I tune them? Since the blocking filter on the PST is a BF5, would it also help if I took off the eyepiece holder and the other filter below it and replace them both with the BF 10 diagonal? I intend to do imaging. Will this arrangement help me to reach focus easier or will I need to use a Barlow to come to focus? Thanks.
Jim

Re: Double stacking a PST
Hi there Jim, and welcome to the forum.
If I was you I would concentrate on getting used to the PST alone first, learn how to tune it and get used to 'seeing' in Ha.
You will need to use a barlow to reach focus with the PST (regardless of configuration) unless you have a CCD camera with a short, shoulderless nose piece.
I also suspect you will need an additional adapter to get that Double stack unit onto the end of the PST.
