Hi James
I retune it each session just to make sure there isn't a better position

Re: Tuned e talon
Once you get used to Ha observing / imaging you'll know if the tuning is even slightly "off".
My Solarscope 60 almost never needs retuning. The Solarscope 100 - front mounted etalon - is a different matter, there is a slight shift in tuning every time the etalon is mounted (probably because the adapater doesn't fit absolutely square to the scope tube). But it doesn't take more than a few seconds to get it right, so it really isn't an issue.
Pressure tuned etalons are likely to require retuning every time due to variations in atmospheric pressure as well as possible leakage from the unit.

Re: Tuned e talon
Is the PST pressure tuned?
Not in the same way as a Lunt.
My advice would be to just play around with the tuning ring everytime you use the PST, get used to how it works and what ir looks like when it's on band and off band

Re: Tuned e talon
Read through some of this stuff by the late Jan Timmermans.
Lot of good basic PST info here. How to tune your penta-prism and how to make sure your tuning ring is doing all it can.

All this stuff is scattered around here too, but Jan had put together some good stuff for the beginner.
