On the original PST version the rubber grip ring and metal ring under it was attached to the Etalon tilt mechanism by a small screw. It looks this has been replacemnt by a screw that extends outside the scope and is used as a lever to still tilt the Etalon. So 95% of the scope is the same. I know on my PST the rubber ring broken twice. I bought a new one from Meade but when that broke I was able to repair. So if others scopes are like mine, this was a problem and new lever system fixes this issue. I bet it is also cheaper.
I think I know optics pretty well and I don't how they could make an air spaced Etalon tunable without some way to tilt it. So the one picture of the PST without the ring I bet is just a "dummy" scope that is non-functional and used to take pictures of for the ad.

Re: Latest PST different?????????
Hi here the guy that started this whole discussion. I have been to my Meade/coronado dealer and seen the newest PST. It looks just the same as before with a rubber ring. I bought one right away. After testing I could see proms ,AR and filaments so it looks okay. And I could simple do a double stack with the solarmax 40 that I also have. Even better details. But I will take the PST apart for my 4 inch modification. Anybody an idea on how to take the PST safely apart.
Thanks
Bas
