solar spot images taken on Aug 14 to 17 with the 300 mm solar telescope
Dear All,
Here are a number of solar spots images taken with the 300 mm solar telescope from August 14 to 1 .
To start with, here is the double spot AR2576 on August 14 :
and on August 15 :
Umbral dots are seen in the umbra of the spot, as well as bright dots in the filaments of the penumbra.
Then we have the triplet AR2574, 2475 and 2577 taken on August 14. Note the deformation of the solar granulation in the area of the pores. This is not an effect of the seeing. Indeed, this is the result of the solar magnetic field :
We can note the same deformation at the same place in this image too :
The same group on August 15 :
Then on August 16 in G band (430 nm). Seeing is unfortunately less favourable in this wavelength. But we can note many filigrees, ie. intergranular bright points, for example from the spot on the bottom left side up to the pores above of the top left of the image :
The same group on August 17 :
A very small spot appeared on the Eastern limb on August 15 :
Here in G band (430 nm) on August 16 :
An finally on August 17 :
Best regards

Excellent set of super HR images!
This is already a usual level of resolution and detalization that Christian makes with his 300mm reflector.
With such a seeing, did you ever consider, Christian, to build a 20" solar reflector?
BTW. Do you use Baader Solar film or do you use uncoated mirrors for unwanted heat eliminate?

Thanks to all :-)
Valery, the mirror of the 300 mm is uncoated.
/// Post corrected on Sept 3 : the mirror is uncoated ///
Here is an image of the scope:
Going to a larger diameter would be make things much more difficult to handle.

Among the best white light images I have seen taken by an amateur.

Re: solar spot images taken on Aug 14 to 17 with the 300 mm solar telescope
Oops ... I've made an unfortunated typo error in my answering to the question of Valery ... the primary mirror of my 300 mm is uncoated (ie. not coated).

Fantastic resolution Christian. Some of the best HR WL images I've seen so far
Can you tell me why you do no attach the SSM to the reflector?
