Hi,
The quark claims to have a 4.2x telecentric system in front of the etalon.
I wonder how compact it is.
Does anyone have information about its design: lenses, F, distance, etc.

Good that you remember me this drawing.
Mmmm, 2 set of contacted lenses. It looks difficult to make with stock lenses.
And I have no idea about the characteristics of theses.

Yes ,these would be custom lens. But you can make an telecentric with stock lens. What objective did you plan to use, and what kind of back focus( distance from the back lens to focus) where you looking for? If also depends on the CA of the etalon you plan to use. I may already have something designed that you can put together. But if you are going to be at 100mm F/8 or close, just buy an TZ4. Unless you want to make one yourself.

Hi Alex,
I had to replace the Quark telecentric with the 2" 4xPowerMate after the small negative lens broke (probably due to a too much tight retaining ring). If you unscrew the telecentric from the Quark body, you can screw the PowerMate to the 2" nose-piece thread, which is identical to the 4xPowerMate thread. The 4xPowerMate works for me much better for two reasons. Its input diameter is larger and I was able to use a larger Blocking Filter (25mm diameter) from Andover Corporation, who makes the original small 12.5mm blocking filter. A telecentric amplifier gets longer as the amplification factor increases, or you need to use very short FL negative front lens. And that doesn't come free optically speaking.

Interesting, I'm in a similar situation atm, using the Quark on the Lunt 50 (which I'm planning to mod for a larger aperture soon), but the barlow of the Quark is badly contaminated, and has some scratches or coating deterioration of some sort, so I get a lot of dust on the image, when doublestacked.FeroT wrote: ↑Thu Feb 16, 2017 11:53 pm Hi Alex,

I'm currently trying to get a replacement lens from Daystar, but, feels like they are unwilling to do it, without shipping the whole unit back to them, which I can't do atm, due to the circumstances.
So, x4 Powermate might be a good option then.
Any chance you could post a pic, how it is attached to your Quark?
Also, tried browsing Andover's site, but can't find the 25mm filter your referred to, any chance to post the link also?
