Heya,
Well, the clouds & rain are there, but I found some more sucker holes to image through today. I wanted to really try to do a better full disc mosaic, manually, but to do that and really nuke most of the gradients and newton rings, I'd need a calibration flat frame as well as try to use my tilt adapter to take down the rings easier. I think it worked out decently. I think the gradients that remain are mostly due to exposure differences while gathering the data through the clouds (a little more clouds drop the exposure, etc), so I have some minor gradients still there, but they're not bad, and there's no rings even when compressed down. The result is a pretty nice high resolution solar disc mosaic, at least, I think. Took some shots of the big prom groupings, the active AR2712 region, the previous sunspot region (no number now) still slightly active with a nice filament near it too.

Orion ST80 (masked to 60mm F6.6) Refractor

Baader UV/IR Cut Filter (ERF)
Daystar Quark Chromosphere
ZWO Tilt Adapter (to neutralize newton rings)

Tilt adapter. Using it is rather easy. For initial configuration, I unscrewed the thumbscrews and loosened it so it was free to move. While looking at the screen, I simply moved it manually by hand around at different angles to see if the newton rings would diminish or intensify, etc. When I saw less rings, or no rings, I would note the positioned angle and simply tighten down the smaller thumb screws to maintain the position, then tighten the larger thumbscrews to prevent further movement and lock it down totally. Worked quite well.

A great set Marty. Put some electrical tape around the tilt adaptor - that gap is letting in light where you don't want it to.

At F5, it's basically good for proms, but not for surface. But if you stop it down to 60mm or 40mm (F6.6 to F9.5) it's fantastic for contrasty surface and bright proms. I use a 60mm aperture mask on it (60mm = F6.6, with Quark = F28 which is good).
