Partial solar eclipse 13 July

Post by JohnW »

Friday July 13 2018. I was lucky to capture today's partial solar eclipse as the sun was covered by fog and cloud all morning (also 3°C). The fog started to clear as the eclipse began at 1.08 pm (AEST). I was observing from central Victoria (SE Australia). The series of pics shows progress (times are on each picture). All single exposures thru a WO 81 mm refractor with a herschel wedge (540 nm filter) and Canon 550d camera. Eclipse ended at 1.31 pm. Max was at approx 1.20 pm. Thanks for viewing.

I was lucky to be just in the eclipse zone - the further south from my location the greater the coverage of the sun by the moon. No sunspots today.
Thanks all. Cheers, John W.
