Solar Analemma. This outstanding image from Alexandra Hart taken over a period of 4 years charts the midday position of the sun in the sky throughout the year. The north–south component of the analemma results from the change in the Sun's declination due to the tilt of Earth's axis of rotation. The east–west component results from the nonuniform rate of change of the Sun's right ascension, governed by combined effects of Earth's axial tilt and orbital eccentricity.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and looking forward to a great solar cycle 25!

July 12 - More Ha

Post by MapleRidge » Sat Jul 14, 2018 6:10 pm

Hi all...

This post will cover the last session I had on Thursday (July 12). I had an early lunch and a short visit to the observatory to grab a few images through the solar scopes.

The full disk Ha through the LS80T/LS75FHa/B1200Ha double stacked scope is the first shown below:

There were still two regions with activity present, a small one approaching the western limb and the large regions which was well placed between the eastern limb and mid disk line. They are presented below in mono, inverted, and colourized palettes:

I was short of time and limited prominence activity was this was the end of the session.

Brian,
Cracking FD and great detail in the AR images. Glad you are getting some decent sessions in your
work break.
