Sun November 11th
Hello everybody: I feel like I hit the jackpot today. Two consecutive Sundays with a a clear blue, sunny sky ! A less than an hour session this morning but there was a lot going on in the sun. The seeing was also pretty good. Three separate groups of prominences: a larger faint one, one that looked like a hedgerow and one that looked like it wanted to become a full loop. Plus, a series of filaments lined up and the tiny sunspot (or active area, It has not been named yet, that I know) just off the disk's center. Last: I got my first transit ! I am posting a single frame. Now I need to know how to export about 60 frames from the AVI to do an animation. Any help is appreciated: type of software and technique. I am also posting a couple of images of a Downy woodpecker in my backyard with beautiful red markings on the back of the head.
Overall, a real fun morning...
Clear skies to all.
Franco

Hi Franco...
I really like the solar shots with the proms, filaments and the small AR. Well done
The jet transit adds an extra bonus to the session. The woodpecker pics are great too.

Beautiful bird too.

Re: Sun November 11th
What a joy to read a post like this I love the Sun pics but I think they may be upside down judging by how that jet is flying, otherwise I think the passengers were having a hard time
If you load the avi into Registax (I use version 5) use the frame list to highlight only the ones you want. Then roughly align (this does not matter) but make sure the limit is very low so that you include all the frames. press optimise (again doesn't matter) but on the stack page you need to tick 'frames' and 'bmp' and 'max frame area' and then press export all frames. It then chucks out all the individual frames as separate images. Then all you have to do is make a gif of the frames like you would if you were doing an animation. I use Photoshop but you can use GIMP.

Re: Sun November 11th
Think you, Brian, Eric and Alexandra for your nice comments. Alexandra: I will try the sequence you gave me to do an animated GIF and let you know how it went. Thank you for that.

Re: Sun November 11th
A really great set of images, Franco, including the woodpecker.
Still no transit for me..... I've had several close calls, either occurring just before or just after I've taken an AVI.
I'll be in Rhode Island 26th November, which might be too late for the best autumn colours. I guess most of the leaves will have fallen by then.
Cheers
Stu.

Thank you Apollo and Stu. Apollo: I will try with Virtualdub and let you know if I have any other questions. Stu: it is nice to see that you come frequently to the US. If I may ask, what is your profession ?

Re: Sun November 11th
Alexandra, Apollo: here is what came out of my first attempt.....
I used Virtualdub, Photoshop and GIFMaker, 35 frames: I worked on each individual frame to make the size of the resulting file somehow manageable.
