Big Bright Proms & Plage | 150mm HA | Feb 8th 2019
Heya,
Between bad weather and flu getting around, we've been shut down a while here in Sunny Florida. Woke up to some decent skies, seeing was good enough, with some stratus clouds passing through and a little airline passing (annoying). But, there's a persistent plage area still rotating the disc and two fairly bright large prominences that are interesting. I imaged for a bit and also did some visual with binoviewers which was quite the treat with such large prominences to look at.
B&W:
Color:
Earth Scales:
Equipment:
Celestron 150mm F8 Refractor
Daystar 150mm ERF + Baader 2" UV/IR Filter
Daystar Quark Chromosphere
PST Etalon
ASi174MM + 0.5x Focal Reducer
Very best,

Re: Big Bright Proms & Plage | 150mm HA | Feb 8th 2019
I went back and looked through some data on this particular session recalling I had a partial fly by. Figured I'd make a little fun animation out of it because I'm totally clouded out today and cannot see or image today's huge fantastic prominece on the limb (if you haven't seen it yet, please go look, there's a true monster on the limb today! 2/13).
Anyhow, a flyby from the 8th:

Hi Marty: cool transit ! I saw the very large prom this morning in the SDO images. I was wondering if anybody in the group is so lucky to image it...

Re: Big Bright Proms & Plage | 150mm HA | Feb 8th 2019
Yea, no huge prom for me. I'm home all day and it's total cloud cover, all day. Florida of all places. Totally ridiculous. And of course, I work tomorrow, so if it's still there, it will likely be sunny and clear just to put salt in the wound. Sigh.
Very best,
