2017 Feb 17. Dark filament through a 6" aperture.

Post by Valery »

Hi all,

Here are two images of the giant dark filament.

Images were taken with refractor SW150 F/5 equipped with a 3-d generation (3bands) ARIES DERF and Quark Chromosphere worked at F/43 and followed by a 0,7x reducer and Basler 1920-155 camera.

Seeing was quite unstable but some moments of improvements were catched.

Thanks for looking and comments.

Thanks, Maurits. I was disappointed by a lack of details sharpness. Then I remembered that this is just a small telescope - almost 2x smaller than my C11 and that diffraction severely limits the resolution and the details are not so sharp and clear as in a larger telescope.

BTW. What is the telescope on your avatar?

Valery,
Superb images and processing. These images give me a good idea of the resolution to expect from a 6" aperture. Thanks for posting them.

I think they are cracking Valery even if you were disappointed, I expect the seeing was not so good (probably more like our normal  ).

Both are excellent images in my eyes Valery. How did you get f43 with the f5 scope? a 2x barlow infront of the Quark?

Very nice images, Valery. You have such high demanding standards.

Nice images Valery ! There is a very distinct 3-D effect with the spicule field.

Thanks, Stu.

I hope that many of you will overtake these my results soon. See how Phil from Florida jumped high with his latest images with his 6" Questar and SS etalon.
