A better day than yesterday (Aug 24)
Again, I was up early for some waning last quarter moon images and did as well with them as last day.
I set up my solar gear at about 10:30 am, further from my house than usual and got some better images
than last day using my LS152 instead of an AR102.The camera used for all the images below was a Blackfly S 3.2Mp at 1500 x 1500 pixels.

Here's Copernicus on the terminator from today in the early morning taken with my c9.25 at 4600mm.

The solar images from today(Aug 24) were taken with a nine year old LS152, double stacked with a Quark chromosphere. The double stacking really had little to do with getting these images as I was interested only in the proms, given the lack of activity on the disc but it does become useful when the sun is more active to bring more contrast into the surface features. It looks like the 2 main prom groups might stay around and so I'll be getting up early for the moon and getting some solar imaging done as well next day.

Although I've been using Astra Image for a couple of years now, I've only ever used its most basic features
(L-R deconvolution, wavelets) until a few months ago. It also has some unique noise reduction abilities which are very necessary
if there is a lot of processing involved that introduces "grain". One of these noise reduction techniques I sometimes use is called "Adaptive Filter" that can be customized. It's not a take it or leave it filter like "Despeckle" in PS. This filter was necessary to smooth out some of these solar images.
The lunar images were possible because they were very early morning images before the seeing deteriorated. I also used a Baader long pass (>610nm) to calm the seeing. I've yet to play with my Ha filters for this purpose.
