More Activity Coming! 1st June

Post by marktownley »

Wowzers, look at the Stereo image, activity at -110deg in the southern hemisphere with us in a couple of days, then activity at -120 and -150 in the northern.

Interesting to see how it develops in the days ahead. By the end of the week the disk might be as 'busy' as it has been for quite some time :)

Interesting. Seems we're being treated activity wise in the last week or so.

A good sign for things to come I guess/hope.

Well the 2 on the far side in the northern hemisphere do seem to have fizzled out, however the one that is just about to round the limb in the southern hemisphere seems to be more substantial. There's quite clearly 2 white patches, and loop like structures. This suggests a dipole region with decent magnetic fields, both of which would act as a proxy for sunspots potentially.

Looking on the GONG movies the area on the limb has been spitting away, with quite a few transient jet features.

GOES X-ray flux in slowly increasing and suggests cracklings at B class level.

All in i'd say this area is more than just a bit of damp plage.

Mark I agree watch this SDO video near the end and you can see the activity just beyond the SE limb.
