Limb proms of June 2

Post by krakatoa1883 »

Since yesterday there are several fine proms to be observed in H-alpha and/or imaged in Ca-K

the one on the NW limb is bright and large enough to offer interesting details in calcium light

while the NE active region lost its yesterday's spot

but as Mark noted there is more stuff that is rotating into view from the E limb. Thanks for looking.

Beautiful images. I am impressed with the proms on your FD, are you now using the Lunt module with the front ERF replaced by a Baader blue filter as you noted in a previous post? I ask as I am having problems with reflections with my Lunt module when I increase gain to image CaK proms.

Thanks for your comments. I add the following image of this afternoon

@John - I used of the original BF of the module (you can note the uneven brightness around the disc due to those damned tilted filters) while for the prom I replaced it with the K-line. I am still experimenting, however. For the image below I removed the B-CCD filter and used the Herschel wedge + K-line, it seems there is still enough light.

WoW. The proms picked up well in the light of CaK.
