The first moving picture

Post by Bruce G »

Something I just learned today:

Predating Muybridge's work by 4 years, the first moving picture was a series of images of a solar transit by Venus in 1874, credited to Pierre Jules César Janssen and produced using a camera specially built for the purpose, called a "photographic revolver."
