22Nov20 - AR12783 in CAK (New images added on 23Nov)
22Nov20, 0750am local time.
It was a cloudy morning. Managed to record 3 CAK videos using a C11 fitted with ARIES D-ERF (with 9" mask), pair of Chroma filter in Skybender + x2.5 Televue Powermate + ASI14MM camera.
Despite a layer of cloud, this image came out:

Dear James,
I am happy to see the supergraulation with minimum processing. This image was achieved with 170 frame stacking, ImPPG processing and level and contrast adjustment in Photoshop.

Very nice Alfred! That filter combination works well. My sky looks like yours does this morning, hopefully I will get to image later on today.

Re: 22Nov20 - AR12783 in CAK
Hi Stuart,
Thanks for your compliment. The seeing wasn't good at all. I could see wavy parts in the movie. In this case, somehow, the thin cloud layer did not result in significant image quality loss. In fact, it seems to have brought about better "contrast" in the video.

By the time I reply to your posting, it will be about 8:50 am at your location. Hope you have clear skies for imaging.
Today, I was reminded again that it may not look good in the morning and the forecast may be bad, but there may still be an opportunity for imaging.
Today is one of those days where I was really not sure if I should go to the observatory. The forecast was rain. On my way to the observatory at 7:04am, it looked like it was going to rain (1st picture). The 2nd picture was taken at the observatory at 7:20am, it did not look good. Then came a less cloudy window from 7:50 to 8:10 am which I was busy recording. No time to take photo of the sky. Then clouds gathered after 8:15am when I was setting up the H-Alpha equipment. The 3rd photo was taken at 8:50am when I decided that the clouds would not go again and started to pack up. The clouds stayed and they covered the sky at 10 am (last photo). Finally it rained at 1 pm. Lessons learnt again for me: Get ready to image even if the sky is covered with clouds in the morning and even if the forecast is rain.

Re: 22Nov20 - AR12783 in CAK (Best Image added 23Nov)
Finally found time to do some post processing.
This is by far the best High-res CAK image. Taken at 7:50 am local time. It is formed from stacking 25 selected frames. Only minor level and contrast adjustment in Photoshop.
Please right click to see the image in its full resolution.
More images on the way....

Very nice captures! The filters seem to working great and, judging from the resolution, you are having terrific seeing!
I'm looking forward to more of your CaK images! (I'll probably be clouded out for many weeks over here.)

Thanks Alexandra for your feedback. I guess I have to learn how to do masking and layers in PS in order to preserve the details in umbra

Hi John,
Thanks for your comments.
I have started taking a photo of the sky in the morning, no matter how bad it looks. The record looks interesting. Many times, I was pleasantly surprised when the skies provided imaging window (however small) despite starting with very cloudy skies.
How is the weather in Vegas now?
Alfred
