Sunday Sunshine 21st March
I nearly didn't get to image at all yesterday; I seemed to be trapped under cloud all day, and by early afternoon decided the day was a write off and resorted to a few cold ones and listening to some music. Next thing I know the sun is out and the stubborn cloud had burned off, it was a close call, i'd had a few cold uns' at this point and i'm never happy playing with expensive telescopes when ones mind is slightly distracted. Slowly and carefully I set up. First off the full disk with the DS50 setup:

I need to have a good clear run with the DS50 to get the tuning flatter and more even. I was fighting the seeing even with the 50mm, and slower frame rate of the camera, and only 1000 sub frames per file meant it is more susceptible to a poorer signal to noise. Compare this to the DS90 at f25 I used for the closeups, and the considerably faster frame rate of the IMX174 camera and 4000 sub frames per file meant I had better data to stack a final image from.

Given I was expecting nothing from yesterday, to get these I was pleased with the results.

A really nice set of images, Mark. It’s so satisfying when the weather goes your way....if not entirely.

Re: Sunday Sunshine 21st March
Well done Mark there looks to be quite a few smaller hot spots around too
I know what you mean about the drink, I always like to get set up before the drink comes, not after. The sky cleared for me too around 3pm but that is a no go for me as the Sun goes behind a neighbour's house. It has to be late May to mid July for me to do late imaging.

Re: Sunday Sunshine 21st March
A couple of cold once doesn't seem to affect your skills at solar-photography or focusing! Great images Mark!
Best regards,
Arne
