A small collection from today (28th December)

Post by Montana »

This morning broke to a wonderful clear blue sky, typical, the only day I needed to go to work, so I didn't

I initially spent an hour packing up the TEC etc and then came to realisation, it's too big, too heavy and didn't fit in the car. The EQ6 with both of us lifting it together we both came to the conclusion, if this goes in the car we'll never lift it out. You must think us rather puny, my husband has a bad back and I am very small. So we packed up the PST instead and went up the allotment. Whilst my husband pruned his 25 vines I did a hour of solar viewing. I went armed with my solar goodies but didn't see a soul.

These 3 images were processed while I was at work, I did my half day from 3pm-7pm instead. I still have plenty more to do yet, I even set up the TEC in the bedroom and viewed through the double glazing in desperation. Seeing was useless and what was really weird was that the Ha tuning kept changing wildly, never experienced that before. I managed to get a picture of a C1 flare though, that will have to wait till tomorrow. I have to be patient patient patient, roll on February.

Oh well, I hope you like my small offering.

Alexandra

Hi Alexandra

so nice pics. I hope you both haven't hurt your backs. I'm willing to buy the TEC 140, just an email and a good offer :-)

Lovely images Alexandra! Glad you got some sun in!

The cloud hadn't passed over in time for me to use my imaging window, however I did manage to get a view through the branches just after lunch which was nice :)

Alexandra, you did very well with your short time span of clarity and low, low sun! Excellent filament details and the flare is very nice. :)

Here is a picture from the 100mm Solarscope of the C class flare at 13:40UT. Don't laugh, but there seems a strange double image effect from the double glazing.

Great pics . Can I ask are the vines Red or White and of what type?Perhaps you need a 100mm ED for a quick mobile setup. I picked up a second hand one and it is my most used scope.

Thanks Derek! the vines are white Phoenix, a tough and hardy hybrid for chilly places, although they almost died last year after a heavy frost at the end of May, so may be they ain't that tough :(

The actual telescope is not too bad, it's the EQ6 mount and counter weights seem to be a tonne in weight :(

Alexandra

Thanks Apollo, if I even mentioned the thought of another scope to the hubbie I think I would get a very murderous glare

Hi Alexandra

I miss your answer to my question ;-) think about your back and the one from your hubby. You are getting only younger, but your hubby :?

Hi Alexandra

thank you very much, I have overlooked your answer, sorry. What a fine offer for a swiss astro friend ;-). Wait, there will be a time, you are looking for something I own. I will be not only asking for the double price, no, it will be at least 3 times the original price ;-)

Have fun, lots of fun
