AR 3646 and 3644 WL with 9.25”

Post by DavidP »

I’m having fun doing some white light again with my Tri-band, especially with all the current activity.
These are done with an 0III and roughly 30 frames stacked.
I always appreciate critical feedback on processing.

Looks great David. The last image seems to have a compression artefact.

Nice shots David, maybe back off on the sharpening and levels a bit.

Thank you, Mark. I was thinking the same.
And this brings up something I’ve been wondering. Christian suggests the smallest radius for sharpening be in the 1.3 to 1.6 range. Whereas I’ve heard of others consistently using from 0.7 to 0.9.
I realize it depends on image scale and seeing conditions, but for these images I’ve been able to stack frames that are consistently and substantially sub arc”, What most would consider very good seeing conditions. I was at F/11 with the above images.

Nice images. I agree with Mark on the over sharping. I do it enough myself to recognize it

Great shot, I like the processing on the first pic the best.

Suggests undersampling to me if those values are being used.
