Full Disc White light 22/01/12 + Data

Post by Richard »

Hi all, today was supposed to be clear skies from about 12.00. Well they seem to have got that wrong again.
99% clouds and a gail blowing about 40mph, got set up and got one half decent image today/
With the wind blowing it was hard to stand up straight, so quite amazed there was one image that I could use.
Single shot with the Canon 1000D through the ED80, Lunt 2" wedge, UV/IR, Continuum and ND3 filters at 1/40th sec...

Very well done!! That weather forecast sounds very familiar. I was hopeful too, but then it seems worse than yesterday. So did the gardening instead :)

Wow, you have been lucky with the gaps! Good shot! Pretty much wall to wall cloud for me today with a bitter cold gusting wind - infact had to do some emergency repairs on our garden gate as a result of gusting winds. This week doesn't look too clever weatherwise in the UK, however by next weekend we could be sat under a high pressure again, so, hopefully clear skies...

Gee Richard, are you sure your not citing todays Arizona forcast? man, its bad out there. Your shots are fabulous! Dont stop, your doing great. Have you tried stacking a few images yet to see if that helps? Also, you can shoot like a few dozen of the DSLR shots and hand pick the best one for processing. Its called "Lucky Imaging".

Going to have a play at lucky imaging, but today there wasn't enough time to get fine focus. The one above was the only one out of 20 that you could actually see the Sun.....
