Given the surge of double stacked images, I'm looking at double stacking my LS80 with an external etalon, likely an LS60FHa.
If I use the LS60FHa on the LS80, would it be safe to remove the internal ERF from the LS80 in a double stack to improve the brightness? I'm assuming the ERF in the LS60FHa would be enough to remove most of the heat causing IR.
I would also use it on a 102 mm refractor and double stack it with a PST etalon at the camera end of the scope..
Lunt sells one version they say is only for double stacking an existing etalon or solar scope. It can't be used on its own.
Does that mean that it is missing an ERF(already in the pre existing etalon) or is there something else at work?
Note: I haven't looked through an eyepiece in years. So any hazard would not be to my eyes.

Re: Double stacking question
Hi Lou
I don't see any problems but I would remove the external ERF on the double stack filter

But don't remove it if you are using the LS60f on the 102. You will need the erf up front.

Yes Allan is right. You do need always at lest one ERF, the position of it is not that critical as long as it is up front of the first glas or filter near the focus

Re: Double stacking question
I also have a 102mm Megrez which I am considering obtaining a plate and fitting my LSf DS on the end I hope to use my existing B1200 in conjunction. I assume this will give good results. I also assume you have a BF as well for your setup
