PST Mod Question
I know this may seem a daft one but will ask anyway... If I was doing a PST mod and unscrewed the gold objective tube from the black box, I could screw it back on again if I wanted?

Re: PST Mod Question
Yes, no problem!
(But remove the sticky Loctite if present, it might glue back on almost as tight as before! The newer PST's have lots of this nasty stuff on all threads))

Re: PST Mod Question
Hi Roel
Yes you are right. I did it my self. I felt, if you put it together again it sticks much better together, I was almost not able to deassemble them again

Re: PST Mod Question
in order not to damage the gold tube, I recommend to use this special key : http://www.waterconcept.fr/cle-boa-smal ... p-709.html
Re: PST Mod Question
I found that these tools did the trick;first putting the black box in a vise(cushioned with wood and leather) and using an oil filter removal tool around the gold tube, this time cushioned with thick rubber(an old engine a/c belt)
I found that the tube and etalon came free from the black box together, so I mode shaped wooden grips to hold the etalon in a vise then used the same technique to separate the tube from etalon - heres a pic. of the whole tool kit
Have fun!

Re: PST Mod Question
So far so good....
Just double check the etalon...make sure the front and rear lenses are still tight in place (I had a couple of examples where they had loosened during removal)
Looks like you're heading for a Stage 2 mod....

Re: PST Mod Question
I snapped two heavy duty boa's, I never managed to get the gold tube off my second PST.
