Solar prominence 03/03/24

Post by Alun_H »

Finally getting the Sun high enough to start observing/imaging again and yesterday I managed to record ten 2000 frame SER files of the large prominence on the south eastern limb using my Bresser 90mm f/10 Achromat/Lunt pressure tuned module (off the 50THa) and QHY5III 178M (using ROI so as to keep within the sweet spot),using a Lunt 100mm ERF up front of scope all riding on my Mesu-200 Mk1 mount.

Stacking of the ten SER's carried out in Autostakkert 4,wavelet sharpened in Astrosurface and aligned in IMPPG,animation created in GIMP.
First SER recorded at 13:23 and the last recorded at 13:56 UT with around three to five minutes between each one.

Awesome catch Alun! I watched the video on GONG and that eruptive prom sank back down to the surface.

Fantastic prom animation, Alun. I believe I visually observed that prom at its maximum size, it was pretty amazing. Glad you were able to capture the event in all its beauty.
