Some H-a details with AR150/F8

Post by pupak »

Today confirmed my suspicions from yesterday that the clearer the sky, the worse the seeing. From morning until afternoon, it was difficult to find a moment when the image on the monitor did not resemble a rough sea.
I forgot to clean the solar Newton yesterday, so I tried H-a Moon and the popular M42 with it in the evening. Works pretty well at night too.

I do not look at the sky with the eyes of an astronomer, but of a person looking for the beauty of nature.

Very nice! It's interesting how certain areas of the moon really stand out in Ha. In saturated "mineral moon" images those two bright craters (Stevinus I think?) are actually light blue or cyan in color.

Nice on all Petr but it was the lunar one and especially the one of M42 that caught my eye. The M42 image is outstanding!

Those are still great shots for "rough seas" - I particularly like the 8th one. And that's v interesting on the Ha moon - I'll have to try that! Was this with your solar etalon (ie a v narrow bandpass) or a general Ha filter?

Nicely done in poor conditions, Petr. last two are very original and different, very cool images.

I used Baader UV/IR - Ha 50nm.
