The hairy looking Sun in hydrogen alpha is formed by millions of spicules / mottles which are individual jets of plasma rising and falling in around 15 minutes at speeds of up to 100km/s. This wonderful part inverted image was taken by Simon (Simon2940) from the USA on the 5th May 2021
