Sept 7 Pair of proms on Sun

Sept 7, SE Australia late afternoon.
A pair of prominences on the Sun's SW limb looked interesting enough to image.
This single exposure pic was taken with a Canon 550d camera attached to a Lunt 100 Ha scope.
No other features visible on sun's surface.
Thanks for viewing.

Re: Partial solar eclipse 13 July

I was lucky to be just in the eclipse zone - the further south from my location the greater the coverage of the sun by the moon. No sunspots today.
Thanks all. Cheers, John W.

Partial solar eclipse 13 July

Friday July 13 2018. I was lucky to capture today's partial solar eclipse as the sun was covered by fog and cloud all morning (also 3°C). The fog started to clear as the eclipse began at 1.08 pm (AEST). I was observing from central Victoria (SE Australia). The series of pics shows progress (times ar...

Re: Coronado BF15 spectrographic testing.

I have always found the B1200 on my Lunt 100 scope much less bright than the views thru my older Coronado SMII60 which had a BF10. Does this mean that if I brought a BF10 and put it into my Lunt 100 I would likely get brighter views ? Thanks, John W.

Yellow pic is at 540 nm thru a herschel wedge. Orange pic is thru a Lunt 100 Ha scope at 656 nm. Both single e...
