Re: Lunar Limb profile extraction from Solar Eclipse imagery
This image is an further work on a previous image that I released last week. After finding that it was possible to bring out details of the lunar limb using the imagery made during the total eclipse I started looking a bit further into the topic. It showed that there is very nice software from the I...

Re: Lunar Limb profile extraction from Solar Eclipse imagery
Amazing work Andre, it matches very well indeed, superb science :) so now you can name the mountains that caused the beads? :bow :hamster: Alexandra I even got a request from the maker of the software package to use the images to do some scientific measurements :) Always like something like that...

Lunar Limb profile extraction from Solar Eclipse imagery
A while ago I saw a post from Pete Lawrence from BBC Sky at Night on Facebook in which he showed that you can see the lunar limb profile in the images from the Baily beads taken during the solar eclipse. When I started making an beads sequence I remembered this post and thought it was worthwhile to ...

Solar eclipse (also annotated with scale and star field)
This image shows an a so-called Pellett processing of the Solar Corona during the last eclipse as made in Teton Village, WY. I made about 22 images using several exposures to try to catch the complete corona during the eclipse and the surrounding star field. The equipment used for this image was a N...

Finally the Sun again - Mercury transit
Lately I have been finally picking up pace with the Sun again. I bought an ASI174mm and now I can shoot the full disk with my Lunt 60. That makes life so much easier :) Here are some images of the transit and a time-lapse... https://vimeo.com/166129151 And here are the images: Transit_multiple.jpg s...

Back from the 'dark ages' :)
The sun today taken in H-alpha with a Lunt 60mm solar telescope... Taken just before it dissappeared behind my house through some thin cloud layers. Very happy with this one, as it is my first solar image since October 2014... In the mean time we had the dark, cloudy ages here... sundisk_ha_12042015...

Filaments and sunspots 04/08/2014
Today I had the opportunity to further use my new solar setup. It consists of a TMB92 with a Lunt LS75Ha etalon.
The image was made with a 2.5x power mate and a DMK21-618.

Sun H-alpha September 8
Hi everybody,
It seems like ages since I took my last solar image. Recently I obtained a TMB92 and yesterday I put my Lunt LS75 with a BF1200 on it. I have to say the view was very nice. Here is the mosaic I made in two color styles:

Re: Huge prominence lifting off yesterday
I also made a quick animation of two images 16 minutes apart. The motion in that time is about 60.000 km. This gives an escape speed of about 250.000 km/h. Wow!

Huge prominence lifting off yesterday
Yesterday I saw this one just before sunset. It was moving very fast (estimated about 250.000 km/h) and beautiful to see. Did anybody see this one?

Sun whitelight 12th January 2014
It was a long time ago I did whitelight imaging of the sun. Yesterday it was a bit clear (lots of haze) and the sun was just above the rooftops. I wanted to see the big sunspot I was reading a lot about lost few days, so I caught it just before it will disappear in the coming days.... Telescope: Rob...
