Re: AR 3664 animation and the northern lights.

Very nice work on the animation and beautiful colors on the aurora! It looks like the Ha animation may be a bit in the blue wing judging by the appearance of the dark filaments. Yes James that could well be so. My Quark dial was set at the central position but I haven't quite worked out the ideal o...

Re: A few prominence animations.

The way to use ImPPG for Alinement is to leave some detail on the disc. The information is still in the proms and is processed out later. Try different amounts and you will soon get the hang of it Brian.
Thanks Solar, i will give it a go.

Re: A few prominence animations.

Thanks everyone! I tried the image align in ImPPG but unfortunately my tracking was a bit too wayward and the program didn't do it for me. I ended up manually aligning in Registax 5, doing a batch process in Photoshop to blacken the disc and then finishing up with PIPP for the final animation.

Well, I bought another Quark after the old one gave up the ghost last year. I notice this one seems lighter and more compact and doesn't get as warm. I'm assuming it is more energy efficient. I just got around to processing some images from 2 December. Bear in mind I'm at 58 degrees north and the su...

Re: Some more CaK shots.

It works with CaK mainly because of the inherent spherical aberration of refractors when used full aperture, also CaK is 1.6x more sensitive to the seeing than Ha. I sometimes stop down in Ha if seeing is really bad, but this is rare.
Thanks Mark. That clears that one up. :)
