Re: Eta Aquarid meteor shower May 5

Finally catching up on this. Here are my data, up to date as of 12th. I also detected a second wave on the 7th. I guess these 'clouds' of particles are quite heterogeneous, so we should expect a few sporadic concentrations at times during the meteor shower period (18th April to 27th May in this case...

Re: CME Impact 12th May 2021

Here's the full event. I've added some planetary Kp index data and solar wind magnetic polarity data from NOAA to show how all of these are interrelated. As the Bz component (red line) turns south (negative) so the magnetic field carried by the solar wind plasma links up with Earth's magnetic field ...

Re: AR2822 mid flare

Being picky, with the flare image, I would overlay it over the original and blend in the original flare (unprocessed in sharpening). It would bring it back to pure white and remove the bad ringing. It kind of spoils the look in close up. Hopefully you will know what I mean, all in a good way of cou...

CME Impact 12th May 2021-UPDATED

A CME impact from a solar eruption a few days ago arrived this morning at a little after 6:00am UT creating an ongoing geomagnetic storm. This was easily detected on my magnetometer here in the UK. 20210512_CME Impact.jpg If this continues to ripple through Earth's orbital path, it should be a good ...

AR2822 mid flare

AR2822 continues to dominate the disk and is putting on a great fireworks show. Luckily the Sun was shining in a vibrant blue sky with average to good seeing this morning, although I could see clouds looming on the horizon and I knew my window of time on the Sun was closing in. No time for FDs, I we...
