Finally back posting...lovely solar quadrant with surface and flares

I've missed everyone very much, but I've not stopped doing solar work and solar outreach.

Here is one from September 9th.

Cheers,
Jack

I am selling my Aries 152mm DERF (but staying active!)

My post to sell my Aries dual band 152mm DERF is here: viewtopic.php?t=39675.

Still staying active in solar outreach...just need to fund some outreach equipment.

152mm Aries D-ERF for sale

I am selling my 6" 152mm Energy Rejection Filter from Aries. It is a dual band H-Alpha and Calcium so you get two for one! I have taken amazing photos with this on my 6" achromat. There are some scratches on both surfaces, but a flat takes out any impact on the image. The Baader and the Da...

The Quark does seem pretty evenly illuminated. I find my best tuning to be -5 (negative 5). I think several of us do as well. I'm doing the same thing today...my curves get the surface and the prom nicely, but at the expense of that hard black horizon of spicules.

I do like what you're doing though. Ultimately I shoot for black skies when I color in Gimp but I find the yellow skies very interesting.

Carlo, Great post which is bringing out great conversations. I use SharpCap which has a nice capture feature where you can say, “BEGIN CAPTURE OF ALL FRAMES THAT MEET A SEEING THRESHOLD”. I don’t remember if Fire Capture does that or not. In theory that gives a cleaner initial stack to work from. Jack

Outstanding Solar Outreach Monitor

I am using a 15" OLED flat panel powered by a cell phone brick for solar outreach. It is 500 nits in brightness which means I can display the sun with only very modest shade provided by sticking the monitor in a black storage bin on a tripod. $250 on Amazon. -Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com...
