First Light with Baader Solar Continuum Filter

I received my Baader Solar Continuum filter this past Friday. Today I had the chance to try it out as I had the day off from work. The I maging train includes a Lunt 102mm f/7 doublet refractor and a Lunt Solar Wedge. A Point Grey Research Grasshopper 3 video camera with the IMX174 chip was used for...

Object Transit during Solar Eclipse - What is it?

I had seen an object Transit the Sun during the Eclipse. I initially thought it was the ISS. But when I went online to check the path of the ISS on Aug. 21, it was not over New Jersey (USA). I was not recording video to my laptop at the time. I saw it on my computer screen. My astronomy club was con...

Correction Satellite Transit during the Eclipse - 3 Screenshot Images

The most amazing part for me yesterday was seeing What appears to be a satellite transit across the Sun during the Eclipse. I was not capturing video to my laptop at the time. But I was watching my computer screen and saw it pass by. I must admit that I wasn't even aware that it was supposed to happ...

White Light Images Aug.19, 2017

It has been a while since I have done any Solar imaging. Here are some photos from today. The 48 hour weather forecast is sunny skies for this coming Monday! These images were captured using a Lunt 102mm f/7 with a Lunt Solar Wedge and a Point Grey Research Grasshopper 3 (Sony IMX 174) on a Losmandy...

Re: Question on Potential White Light Setup

Hi Alexandra and Mark,
Thanks for the input. And I do have a UV/IR cut filter. I have been using it with my PGR Grasshopper3 (Sony IMX174) and Astrotech AT65EDQ for lunar imaging.
Cheers,
Mike

Question on Potential White Light Setup

Hi All,

What are your thoughts on using a Lunt Engineering 102mm F7 ED Doublet with a 2" Lunt Solar Wedge for white light solar imaging? I will be using a monochrome CCD video camera.

Thanks,

Mike

Re: Second Attempt at Double Stacking

Thanks guys for all the comments. I feel like I am starting to get the hang of this. Half the fun is learning how to do it.

I attached my PGR Grasshopper 3 to my 203mm Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain and took some lunar images this weekend as well. So much better than with my DSLR!
