Re: new computer / new process so new images !

Great job, Philippe, that's the proper detail level from such aperture. Though I must admit when I reprocessed some of my old WL images (from 180 mm at f/15, Solar Continuum, 3.75 μm pixel) with ImPPG, I had the impression that granules look slightly better (sharper) when using wavelets (in Regista...

Re: Quark Vs Solarscope

Good work Alexandra. I see the question asked all the time about how the Quark compares. Truly, it is an excellent HiRes device but fails miserably at the full disc. I saw Bill post on another forum mentioning how most Quark users have other dedicated Ha scopes they use for full disc imaging. I tota...

Re: Quark Quality Control Concerns

Hi Renims, Your images look like my initial images. I think your issue is that the Quark is not square to the optical axis i.e. you have focuser slop or the Quark is somehow tilted in its holder. This causes the bright areas on one side and Newton rings. Camera chips also come into play. If the chip...

Re: Quark Quality Control Concerns

Hi Stephen, Just saw your post. Things have cranked up quite a bit at work and I am working copious amounts of overtime. Because of this I have been unable (too darn tired) to finish my complete writeup on the Quark and have definetly not been out imaging or observing lately. There have been some ve...

Re: Newton's rings (?) - Help please.................

Sometime I do not have to correct the image even though NR in the raw image are obvious, just stacking alone will remove them. Did you try to stack without any correction method i.e. use no flat at all? Try that first and see how it works. Let me know how it goes. NR in HiRes images with CMOS are pr...

I needs to be mentioned that if there is a fault in the filter, Daystar is quick to repair or replace the filter. Their current response to customer concerns and service in response to Quark owners has been exceptional. The reviews I have read and written across forums to date is 95% two thumbs up f...

Attended the SCAE this weekend and looked at all the new toys, talked with Jim Lafferty and Ken Crawford a bit (and attended his processing symposium). A good time was had by all. Oceanside Photo and Telescope does an excellent job putting this on every year. This was just the raffle phase. You woul...
