To be honest I cannot see how something as small as a comet could give rise to a sunspot, considering the size difference as well, maybe I'm wrong but it seems a little doubtful.

Maybe relevant maybe not but thought I'd put it here anyway. Using a Baader D-ERF (Red glass) on my 152mm frac I find the exiting beam to be cool & not warm, Baader states that the D-ERF prevents thermal turbulence in the tube, prevents focus shift & stabilizes centre wavelength drift due to...

I think that is a hoax story according to Matt Penn and certainly from watching the Sun I don't think there will be any major solar flare do you :) I think it is either a security issue or something else. https://eu.alamogordonews.com/story/news/local/2018/09/07/sunspot-observatory-south-cloudcroft...

Apart from the flats the C8 SCT IMX174 White Light combo looks promising. Unlike Ha imaging i found you do need to image the sun earlier for best results, i started today at 2pm. Seeing plays an even bigger part with convection cell capturing, well for me at least, with no large details to get focus...

The best seeing I have had period & the small details captured attest to this I feel.
