So, Martin confirmed we had a small bright surge visible with a "narrowband" 12 nm Ha filtre.
Very interesting.

Re: Ha belated images / May 5 / C8 EdgeHD / double stack Ha

Thanks guys ! Absolutely exceptional :bow :hamster: I see that some areas of the prom are very detailed whereas other areas are soft. I have seen this before in my own images, I wonder if these areas are moving faster (motion blur) compared to other areas or whether it is just different structures w...

Re: A couple of questions on acquisition/processing

Hello Vladimir, Here are some hints : - Exposure time comes first. In order to freeze turbulence, you need an exposure time shorter than about 5 to 7 ms. Some prefer to go even shorter than 5 ms. If you can have this with gain 0, this is great. Otherwise you need to adjust the gain value accordingly...

Re: Another adapter question

Hello Franco,
The TZ-4 has a M42 thread. Check Baader website, they have a 2" thread => M42 thread reducing ring for Solar Spectrum etalons. I've got one for my RG-32.
Then you will be able to use your SS with the 2" thread or with the M42 thread.

Re: Belated Ca K images / July 10 / Taka TOA 150

the distance between the Barr and the Alluxa filters is about 10 mm. You can have a look at the setup here : http://astrosurf.com/viladrich/astro/instrument/intrumentCaK/Montage-CaK-Barr-Alluxa-Astronomik.jpg However, when I double-stack the Alluxa 0.37 nm with the Alluxa 0.15 nm, I definitely need...

Belated Ha images / July 16 / C8 EdgeHD

Hi, Here is a set of Ha images taken on July 16 with the C8 EdgeHD and a double-stack configuration. Let's start with three images of one of the nice proms visible back then : http://astrosurf.com/viladrich/astro/soleil/wl/2022/Protu-16July2022-10h21-C8EdgeHD-B1920-PE06A-SMn35.jpg with the sunspot :...

Re: Sun - Ha & White Light Full Disk - September 14, 2022

Thanks so much for the kind words, all! Still trying to improve day by day. :) The Ha image is nicely processed ! Regarding the WL image, the image with the W58A is slightly better. Still, if you can, I would suggest to use a trichromic green filter (Astronomik, Baader CCD, ZWO, etc.). Indeed, the ...

Assembling 29 panels is quite a hige work. Well done !

I would suggest reducing the overall contrast. It is a bit too much on my screen. Maybe, you could try something halway between your first version and Arne's image :

Re: Question on capture settings

Hi there, My process flow is pretty much stabilized : - I only use 8-bit acquisition. In 20 years of solar imaging, using quite a lot of different cameras, I've never seen an advantage to 12-bit (or more) acquisition, except for total solar eclipse imaging. On top of that, using 12-bits (or more) re...
