Big prom 2019/02/14

Hi
Had a glance at it yesterday 13, but didn't have the time to catch it today. It was bigger (1/5 of the sun) but weaker today, and better with the étalon de tuned (lower pressure). Lunt 100 with 18mm eyepiece, still between cirrus

From lunt years ago https://luntsolarsystems.com/limited-run/ Lunt is pleased to announce the next run of LS230T/B3400/PT Solar Systems. This run will be limited to 10 instruments. However, we are excited to be offering these systems as the Double Stack version with dual USB/PC Pressure Tune control...

Re: C14 in solar imaging.

Great setup and picts!!!!! What etalon system do you use? To improve local seeing, I would cover everything that is black: - the rings: they catch heat and transmit it through the tube causing internal local air current (I have some at night on my C8 due to the cooling of the rail on the side...) - ...

Hi Merlin, never saw one, but found some infos on CN: https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/260382-criterion-solar-prominence-viewer/ Never did it myself, but I have seen solar projection with Schmidt cassegrain in those time, so dangerous for many reasons. Re: Collimating the LS152T

Same as Pedro ans Eric, twiking BF vs étalon orientation . ;) you can check collimation in Ha with a pin hole on an aluminium foil un front of a broadband light source as hallogen far, by night. ;) If collim is OK, something on the etalon cell might be too much tilted. Lunt might help you then (they...

Thank you Franco and Montana. Sketching in 10 to 20min is a lazy way for me to avoid setting up the equatorial mount/cam/computer, and still keeping an eye on the sun to get a good resolution ;) Cheers from Paris

I do the same with the LS100 since 2009 ;) in order to nearly equilibrate and stress less the plumping/joints if there are some ;)

Yes Walter was right also with the warm up time (15' to 30'). By the way, the first version of the LS 100 (the one with black lens cell and F/8 achromat lens) wasn't as good as the current version (red lens cell an ED F/100 lens). Which version do you have with which BF? I ask you this because it ap...
