Hi, Not a nice sky as yesterday but also not that bad as for not doing any imaging. There are some pores in the Soutwestern quadrant at about ~ -32° and ~ +52°coming from the very bright plague visible in H-alpha, I guess it is AR 12806 ? Also some shy remnant pore from the spot AR 12807 at ~ -19° a...

Re: True North Alignment?
Hi guys, Question, I am trying to understand how to polar line my solarnax iii. Do I really need to align true north or can I just use magnetic north? I want to start doing photography and videos of the sun. Jason You have to align to true north pole when in North and true South when Down Under. I ...

Rainer, That's a thought. If I could trust them not to be stolen. The Losmandy AZ8 alt-az is very sturdy. It's funny how you mentioned it's the only thing they can build is the tripod. I have some jerkiness in the altitude slow motion control in the mount that can be annoying. I bought the mount fr...

Very beautiful relief in your solar disk Rainer! Thanks for posting these photos. If you had only the WL image with no sunspots, orienting/tilting correctly the sun would not be possible I suppose, or am I wrong? Best wishes, Alexandros Hi Alesandros, Yes, I always know how the Sun is oriented beca...

Hi, Pristine blue sky and according to that much better results as two days before  As fast as the new spots AR 12806 and AR 12807 arose as fast as they went away. Just some tiny pores left from AR 12807. Nice huge brigde porminence on the Southeastern limb as well as something lurking in t...

Yes, what a lady :hamster: Pity they don't have any of her sketches to view Alexandra It would be nice if her entire sketch database could be found somewhere. I have numerous white light observations compiled in the 1980s, early 1990s that I could match up against them. Hi James, I made some homewo...

A cyan tint? That was just me and my monitor not your data. Colors would have been better if I could have used the aligned image set, no PixInsight here. Once the RGB images were combined and auto color corrected in Nebulosity, the tif file was opened in PhotoLine (a Photoshop alternative). This is...

Re: March 3 2021 images. Playing with color.
Rainer, I am using SharpCap for acquisition. I can't say anything against you not using color. Your images are very detailed in monochrome. You are also very good in stitching your mosaics together. I will have to learn that since I cannot get full discs in the SMII90. James I also use SharpCap for...

Re: March 3 2021 images. Playing with color.
Thanks for the advise Rainer. I do think at times I try to do too much at once. I never see you do your images in color. I am sure you have your reasons for that. One thing is for sure, yours are always sharp and detailed. I haven't used the gain. I leave it at it's lowest setting. I think someone ...

Hi Frank, Very well done mosaic. Yes it is tedious but Automatic stitching only works if the images have very detailed anchoring details and here we do not have them.
