Finally something useful, it says you can eat the fruits Rainer :) I have two palms in the garden (Chusan palm), by luck one is male and the other female. The bees adore the male, the female produces millions of berries which sometime the Blackbirds eat but I don't know whether they survive the exp...

Great setup. I would recommend to buy a 50cm long USB 3.0 cable in order to avoid those loops or shorter if available.

Hallo Andreas, Danke. I would first put the front etalon on 0° angle with the tilt wheel and also the rear etalon in 0° position (if possible to find out that position in a PST) and look if you have Ghost sun. In order to get rid of the Ghost Sun move the rear etalon slowly until it disappears from ...

Hi, Lurking the Sun between clouds I was able to shot my videos. I tested again the video shooting using the SharpCap Seeing Monitor for White Light and shooting everything above threshold, but the normal acquisition way of shooting 1000 frames in a row gives better results. It looks worse then it was. In order not to overexpose the clouds during sunshine I had to use 2.75ms exposure time and that is why it looks so dark when no blue sky patches are visible

Re: New Spectroheliograph construction (based on 102mm refractor)

Most mounts are not necessarily built to slew at a constant rate of e.g. 16x sidereal rate. In fact, I think heavy capacity mounts will typically gradually accelerate and decelerate, leading to a very non-uniform scan. Older and cheaper mounts are often better. Rick's old AP900 looks like one of th...
