[/quote] Nick, 3.) My experience is that the Baader 35nm Ha filter does improve the contrast by reducing any off-band light and ghost images. At the same time this filter works as a extra protection from dust and heat for the ITF filter (much cheaper to replace the 35nm filter than the ITF). Best r...

Re: June 28 2022 Imaging. First time using " new " equipment.
This being a solar forum, I won't post photos of EAA out of respect. Suffice to say, if you google it, you will find the right places to visit and learn of this activity. This is where we are heading, due to light pollution and also eyes that do not gather light as well through the eyepiece as they ...

Electronically Assisted Astronomy. Stacking of images to get a massive Signal to Noise ratio and see Deep Sky Objects in seconds, even through the light pollution of the city.DeepSolar64 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 29, 2022 5:26 am P.S. What is EAA? When I think of EAA I think of aviation.

Thanks Mark!
I am aware of critical sampling (courtesy of Malveaux) and try to adhere to it. I assume though that this could be dealt with a barlow / telecentric to reach the desired focal ratio, but it would increase the focal length of the system and reduce FOV to an unacceptable size.

You can use the iOS or android ASIAir App to connect to ASIAir device, which controls only ZWO cameras. It is used for imaging and EAA and I use it for EAA, so yes, under those conditions, any Apple of Android device (phone / tablet) can do that. You can install Bluestacks Android emulator on your M...

Congratulations on putting all that new gear to work! Please don't hate me for suggesting this, but why not install Windows through Boot Camp on your Mac and use any capture software you wish and also AS3! to stack? Such an installation is free for Mac users. I bought a pre-owned Macbook Pro myself ...

Arne, Great set of images! You mention using " a Coronado 60mm/BF15 w/Beloptik ITF, stopped down to 50mm, Baader 35nm H-Alpha and ASI 178mm mounted on a SkyWatcher SolarQuest." A few questions please: 1. You stop down your scope. Why do that and reduce resolution? 2. If I recall, the Belop...

Re: Worthy upgrade from a Flea?
I used the ASI290 with my Lunt 50DS (just got the scope and barely had time to play with it) and the 290, while very sensitive and very fast, will not give you a full disk, so you will need a 2 panel mosaic. Nothing wrong if you are into mosaics, but there is a bit of extra effort and work involved....

I do not know if it is possible with the current situation, but anyway I decided to keep the scope and try a bit of imaging with it, and now expecting delivery of the TS branded variant of Player One IMX178MM camera to play with. It has in-build tilt adjustment and once I find the ...
