Re: I need some help on solex camera settings

Never seen this before. Probably Douglas is right about a light leak. There is a chance for light leaks where the 2 parts join together (some have resolved that with another construction). Specially where the colimator an lens tube enter the body and at the back near the round hole for the prism. (T...

Re: Idea: automatic capture of spectra

Ok, found the link for the SharpCap script: https://astrophotoamateur.org/2022/03/s ... solex.html
It needs the PRO (non-free) version of SharpCap.

Re: Idea: automatic capture of spectra

Hi,

there is an ironpython interface for SharpCap Pro somewhere on the internet. (from the French developers)
For FireCapture I am currently making a plugin to do exactly that, but still a few hurdles to take.

Re: Wishlist for solar camera

Hallo Bastelhannes, Interesting idea but one of the main things they will need to consider is that the cameras should be easily integrated into the existing software packages already existing unless they want to develop their own acquisition software but then it really has to be a versatile softwar...

Re: Firecapture remote server?

Hi,

no that will not be working. FC seems to show all devices connected to the INDI server instead of the relevant ones for the function (focuser, telescope ...)

A camera would need to show up in the camera selection screen and there I don't see an INDI selector.

Hi, the only program (i am aware of) that could do that is Planetary Imager from Marco Gulino It could be run in a client server model (with the Gui on local computer and the capturing remote). https://planetaryimager.gulinux.net/ https://github.com/GuLinux/PlanetaryImager Philp (GreatAttractor, on ...

Re: Last weeks images

Thanks everyone for looking and comments. Nice set of images Paul. You've mastered Sol'Ex too ! Not completely yet ... I am still struggling with Ca images which do not come out as I would like. I have upgraded earlier this year to the new (better) collimation lens, but don't see real improvement. (...

Re: Doppler Image Jan 30

Thank you for the comments Peter. I did several tries (also with 2 channels) but could not get good results (probably combining the wrong way) So I switched to what is descrived on the Sol'Ex page from Christian Buil) using an average of the 2 channels as green channel.

Re: Doppler Image Jan 30

Hi Alexandra;

yes it is supposed to be like that, unless I accidentally switched colors. I took +3 px for red and -3px for blue.
The green channel is created by averiging the blue and red one.

Hi, spent some time on making a doppler image of an H-Alfa capture this morning with the Sol'Ex SHG. Re: Player One Apollo-M IMX432, unbox, and ZWO ASI-174 comparison.

Rainer, it is fairly simple. If your scope has a resolution 1.93" then according to Nyquist you need to sample for 1.93/2 = 0.82" This will give a focal lenght of 206*PixelSize/0.82 So in your case 206*4.4/0.82 = 1105 and fratio f/13 (tried to answer this earlier with an example, but the r...

Re: Player One Apollo-M IMX432, unbox, and ZWO ASI-174 comparison.

Hi, Interesting but I wonder about the pixel size of 9µm. Is it not a bit too big ? My cameras have 4.4µm and 2.9µm. Speed is a nice feature to have but not the most important. IMHO ... ;) Hello Rainer, you have a point there, but it all depends ... (as usual there is a yes and a no ;) ) This is an...

Re: Focus indication with round scale.

Maurits,

since you live in Belgium try conrad.be (https://www.conrad.be/zoeken?search=mee ... pe=regular)
cheapest is around €23 (ex-vat) You will need to make some parts to attach it to the focuser. I made something with a 3D printer. Works perfect for my SHG.

Hi,

The FPS was 200 and the synscan was set to 3 which is 16x sidereal. This gives 1838 Y/X ratio.
Normally for bin1 I would use synscan rate2 (8x) which gives 0.857 Y/X
