Re: 6/14 and 6/19 sketch in continuum and Ha updated with 6-25

These are awesome!! Sketching, whether by pencil or digital is a superior way to document the Sun by visual observation. Certainly better than the description method I use. I never would have realized that digital sketching could rival sketching with actual pencil and paper. I don't know how I miss...

Re: WL observations from mid June 1982!

Pretty neat. How many notebooks have you filled with solar observations? I actually started my foray into amateur astronomy in 1978 but did not start recording what I observed until March 1982. I have 9 notebooks if I remember right. Solar is mixed up throughout them. They have all my deep sky obse...

Re: 6/14 and 6/19 sketch in continuum and Ha updated with 6-25

Today's conditions were finally tolerable. It was in the low 80s with a slight breeze. Equipment: Celestron 150/1200 achromat + baader wedge, continuum filter- baader zoom. I should have used my binoviewers but my observing buddy (Franklin the dog) was being "needy". Transparency was avera...

Re: 6/14 and 6/19 sketch in continuum and Ha

Thank you very much for your detailled explanation on how to make the sketches! From making sketches of Deep Sky objects in the past I know that one can see more details when one makes sketches, compared to "just looking". My drawing skills were not so great however, so I stopped drawing....

Re: 6/14 and 6/19 sketch in continuum and Ha

Interesting technique digital sketching. Result looks like a photograph, very nice! How much time does it take to make a drawing?
