Radio Solar/Astronomy in 2024? Any new options?

Hi all, Didn't see a stickie with resources, but lots of Sol`Ex (awesome!) stuff recently here. Anyhow to the point, I'm curious about radio astronomy/solar, and would love to do some radio solar during some of my sessions. I've waffled on this in the past just due to the heavy entry point and not a...

AR3685 & AR3679 High Res | HA, Cont | Full Discs Trifecta | May 21 2024

Hi all, Had some decent morning weather today after some storms this week. Hi there, I might hope into the same boat. I have a 127/1200 achromat refractor (Bresser one) and might get a Lunt LS60ThA. I was wondering ... do we really have to cut the tube ? Would a 3D printed adapter be a good idea ? The Lunt part should be a lesser diameter than the OTA. That way, one can i...

Hi all, AR3664 continues to impress, its grown over night with a lot more interesting pneumbra around the umbras in the complex arrangement making for a very beautiful sunspot region to view in continuum. Hi, A tilt adapter will help. Your system doesn't have to be perfectly collimated, which is really hard without a dovetail that spans the scope and its imaging train to anchor to. Hi,

I would consider the Lunt 40 etalons. They're inexpensive and tilt tuned. RAFCamera already has plans for a chamber to be machined to hold it. You just put it behind a telecentric like Baader TZ4 and you are back in business. Plus you can get a 2nd one and double stack.

Hi, If you plan on using the whole 150mm aperture, go full aperture. Especially with short focal length. The disc image is tiny with that focal length and so all the energy of the 150mm is concentrated into a smaller area, it will be very hot in that tiny area, so a sub-aperture D-ERF is less effect...
