Is anyone using FireCapture on a Mac?
OK, so I gave up on SharpCap and tried loading a native Mac version of FireCapture. Unfortunately, FireCapture requires running a particular command shell and loading a Ruby library. The instructions for doing so, provided with the FireCapture download, do not work. I can't even find the Settings ch...

Re: Quarks: Chromosphere vs Prominence
Valery, I'm not sure that I comprehend what you are getting at. How does this nonuniformity show up in an image? The Chromosphere model is tunable, but its FWHM remains constant at somewhere between 0.5A and 0.3A (depending on the individual unit), if I understand correctly. Marty, Thanks. I was lea...

Nice proms
There are some absolutely gorgeous big proms out there today
One looks like a large, spreading shade tree.
Why oh why oh why won't my camera work???

SharpCap using Parallels on Mac
I have Parallels running. I have Windows 10 running. My camera is recognized by the system. SharpCap starts up. But SharpCap cannot find the camera. Any ideas or suggestions for troubleshooting? When the camera is plugged in, I am shown two options. One choice is to connect the USB device to the Mac...

Quarks: Chromosphere vs Prominence
Has anyone here had the opportunity to test Daystar Quark Chromosphere and Prominence models side-by-side? How much difference do you actually see? Are the proms really that subdued on the Chromosphere model? How much disk detail is lost with the Prominence model? Is it really worth buying two diffe...

So are you simply using the Ha passband of the Aries D-ERF to produce these?

Re: absolute point of focus processing technique
OK... I'm going to have to view that a couple of times. I'm good up to the conversion to smart objects and then I start to lose it. Apparently it is this part that is represented by the R of APF-R. The technique up to that point is essentially a multi-resolution unsharp mask. It is clearly an effect...

At the end of the intro video, Kaltseis suggests that we read the "additional information" PDF file before viewing the next video (at 4:15 in the video). I can't seem to locate the PDF file. Anyone else know where it is? Is it maybe the information on the main page with the red label "usage" that th...

Thanks Paul. I didn't know that. I'm still new to this stuff. I'm surprised there's that much difference in design. I'm glad I don't have that iissue with my model. I can't imagine that placing the barlow in front of the BF would be a big thing. It's a lens, so 99+% of the energy simply passes throu...
