Re: June 28 2022 Imaging. First time using " new " equipment.
Bluetooth? Zoom? Remote Desktop? I know little or nothing on the subject but still managed to use an Android tablet to control and view my Sony HD action camera. How did you do it? Bluetooth? Memory fade. This was years ago now. I'd use my action camera on a tall, telescopic pole. This was before d...

Re: Truss tube ideas
Thanks Mark.
Collimation was a nightmare!
The folding mirrors really need remote control rods.
With collimation adjustment knobs on the back plate.
I preferred to use the simpler, straight tubed version.

Re: Truss tube ideas
There is also the Porsa building system of aluminium tubes and reinforced plastic joints. The joints are hammered into the square tubing using a rubber mallet. The result is a very stiff construction capable of supporting aquaria. Though not particularly lightweight. Here is my take on the Porsa sys...

Re: First light PST mod : how to fine tune Etalon?
Thank you rusted, actually there is an uneven brightness across my field, in each position of the etalon tuning ring. I deal with that thanks to flats, but this uneven brightness makes quite hard to find the good tuning Sorry, I didn't know you were using flats to even out the PST imbalances. I pre...

Dear Fabio, This is not mean to be a criticism of your image. I am just trying to help you make quicker progress with ImPPG. I struggled for ages with ImPPG and desperately needed advice. So now I am passing on the favour. Here is a screen grab of ImPPG on my own computer using part of your image . ...

25.06.2022 AR3040[?] flaring at 14.00 [UTC]
I can't confirm the AR number because Space Weather is showing yesterday's chart. I captured quite a nice image of AR3040 at 13.56 [UTC] It flared immediately afterwards as I was searching for new targets. I returned to AR 3040 at 14.01 [UTC] to discover the flare. Meanwhile thin high cloud ruined t...

Amazing!
Marty
Have you considered using two 2" star diagonals to bend the long filter stack back on itself?
It might need a spacer between the diagonals to further separate the parallel beams.
Cross bracing would be useful to keep everything stiff.

Re: First light PST mod : how to fine tune Etalon?
Superb images! :bow They look fine for tuning. Very even brightness and detail. :bow Ellerman bombs tend to be very small, round white spots on my 150/10 PST mod. As Mark says: Aim for the darkest, most evenly lit and evenly detailed image on your monitor. Increasing the gain, or the exposure, will ...

Nice shots Chris, that filaprom looks ghostly being able to see the limb through the filaprom portion! Than you Warren. :bow I was trying to assemble two or more images into one [for the filaprom] using MS ICE but it refused to play. Claimed my images weren't taken from the same viewpoint. :D Chris
