Mad ramblings.

Hi all, today (Thursday 27June) has been the first clear day for ages, very few clouds and a blue sky. Well I thought I would dust off my EX ed80apo, and put on my Altair Astro camera. I played around with various spacers to no spacers but could not get anything so I swapped the camera to an ASI120 ...

Grasshopper IMX174

Hi I am looking, again, for help and advice. I have a Grasshopper IMX174 camera that I use on my Lunt Chromosphere fitted onto my Explore Scientific ed apo 80. I get horrendous Newton’s rings and have tried moving the camera around to see if I can square it up to the sensor but no luck yet. Is there...

Re: Can't get focus!!

I have the same scope but I use a zwo asi 120 mm that I screw directly onto the blocking filter after taking off the adapter, you then need to draw the blocking filter out by about 6-8 mm or 1/4 inch in old money. Which capture software do you use?

Hi all, I have been trying to get my Primaluce Sesto Senso working but as yet nothing. I have downloaded Ascom 6.4 as well as the Sesto driver. Times they are a changing

Hi, today, March 25, I received my new scope an Explore Scientific ar127 and a Primaluce Sesto Senso focuser. Just got to put everything together and set up the focuser both on the scope and the laptop. So you can blame me for any cloudy days and nights. Sorry.

How to get clouds rolling in.

Hello, yesterday I went to the Practical Astronomy Show in Kettering. I must say it was really enjoyable there was/were plenty of folk there. Also, There were plenty of vendors and, dare I say it, I bought an Explore Scientific AR 127 scope along with a Sesto Senso electronic focuser. So all the bad...

Why stack ????

Hi, I was at an outreach event at the Space center in Leicester at the weekend and whilst having a conversation with someone, they asked ‘why stack pics of the Sun?’ I tried to answer but found my answer a little light on detail. Anyone got any answers so I can pinch them and use them in the future?

Re: Fire capture woes

Mark, the icon that kept sending me in circles was the Java message. But as I said, without knowing how it happened I have managed to download the program. The only thing that is a bit concerning is that when I double click on the FC icon, for a brief second there is a black box with code that appea...

Hi all thanks for the replies to my earlier post. Today the skies are a milky blue so I thought I would set up hoping to get some sort of view of the Sun but I could not get any definition of either the surface or, if there were any, prominences. Just to go back to my earlier post about which scope,...

Re: Batteries, laptops and USB ports.

Hi Alexandra thanks for the reply. I feel sure I hit the ‘submit’ button, this happens quite often just lately. Anyway; My Quark needs power and has a usb connector that goes into my battery. The focuser needs power, which is a usb connector and power, which is a cigarette type connector. So I would...
