Solar Analemma. This outstanding image from Alexandra Hart taken over a period of 4 years charts the midday position of the sun in the sky throughout the year. The north–south component of the analemma results from the change in the Sun's declination due to the tilt of Earth's axis of rotation. The east–west component results from the nonuniform rate of change of the Sun's right ascension, governed by combined effects of Earth's axial tilt and orbital eccentricity.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and looking forward to a great solar cycle 25!

Sun - 2/18 - SM60

Hi all, I took these shots on Sunday afternoon. We didn't get the clear skies promised, but we had about 30 minutes where the sky wasn't opaque. It was a chance to test out the new-to-me ASI178MM-Cool I bought last week in the CN classifieds. I think the difference is pretty dramatic...the resolutio...

Very nice! It's really neat to see all those views together, taken around the same time!

First Light! - SM60

Hi there, I himmed and hawed about buying a dedicated solar telescope for over a year - and asked many questions on forums during that span. I had been considering the PST and the Lunt 50mm, but the real apple of my eye was the Coronado SolarMax 60. But I always backed away from that one...it was to...

New here / My eclipse story and images

Hi everybody, This is my first time on this forum, so I thought I'd introduce myself. After much coveting, I finally took the plunge yesterday. I bought my first H-alpha telescope: a Coronado SolarMax ii 60!! I couldn't be more excited for it to arrive. So I'm here to learn as much as I can about th...
