Hi Brian,
Well I am pretty much seeing what you imaged. More wispy stuff in the images. The upside down triangle looked very similar.
As I was in testing mode I missed the smaller hedge as did not do a detailed scan round the edge.
Cheers. Andrew.

Hi James, RodAstro says my Santel Mak180 gives me an advantage over people struggling with commercial SCTs or going through many to pick out a good one. Hand made by a professional optician with no moving mirrors. Top right image here shows spot diagrams for my Mak180 https://www.telescope-optics.ne...

Hi All the pictures of the inside of PSTs I have seen have the penta prism at a slight angle so seem to be made that way. To reduce reflections at the cost of some aberrations I assume. Have Meade ever made a statement about the penta prism angle? The grease over time does contaminate the surfaces. ...

Hi
Very nice.
A technical point I cannot access the animations in Firefox but they work in Bing.
Same with Stephi's? from France 'image'.
Cheers. Andrew.

Re: Back-focus issues with a collimated etalon
Hi Surely the size of the angle of the sweet spot will not change? The collimator merely changes a converging beam with phase encoded information into a parallel beam with location encoded information and then back into a converging beam with phase encoded information at the same F No so the apparen...

Re: Santel M180 F10 Rumak Maksutov first light
Hi Mark, I appreciate that. My point is that the Mak180 at 1800mm FL is at the maximum I consider useable day to day. Just right with 25mm Clave' or 18mm equivalent little bino-viewers. So trying to use a tele-centric barlow with a Quark at a minimum doubles the FL and is not useable. At the moment ...

Re: Santel M180 F10 Rumak Maksutov first light
Hi I had a try of my Chromo Quark in a 'collimated' beam. First I had to go to a Baader T2 1.25" diagonal to reach focus with the Quark and the Clave' 25mm eyepiece, and only just or close. I could see sunspots and proms. I put a PST Collimator lens on the Quark nosepiece and the re-focus lens on th...

Back-focus issues with a collimated etalon
Hi Using the 200mm focal length and 24.5mm diameter lens with the PST etalon pushed forward to cope with back-focus issues may not be able to be moved far enough forward. You could use a shorter focal length pair say 100mm nearer to the PST etalon and you will just be using 10mm of the etalon apertu...

Re: 127mm Meade Triplet Mod
Hi For my 8mm collimated beam to go through the side of my Quark Prom I need a pair of -60mm and +60mm lenses. 8mm x F7.5 = 60mm. Add a 7nm second ERF to keep things cool. Laser2000 do two optosigma lenses in 20mm dia. Luckily the cheap Chinese filters I buy for use as 20mm stops with the glass remo...

Hi
Nice images as usual.
I had a few sights of the big prom whilst having a play with my kit.
At one point it looked like it was made out of lace.
Later it looked like a cock hen standing on the left looking over a hen looking left.
Cheers. Andrew.

Re: Santel M180 F10 Rumak Maksutov first light
Hi I have tried out tele-centric barlows on this before and tried my 2x ES Tele-extender and Quark Prom again and whilst it works the image scale is too large for my typical seeing. So I thought can I use my -200mm and +200mm simple lenses for the PST2 Mod2 on here with my Quarks, after getting a si...

Re: 127mm Meade Triplet and Quark mod
Hi Been looking at the possibility of using a Quark in a collimated beam after seeing a HAT image with both a PST Mod and a Quark after a Tele-centric so why not the other way round? So I had a try with -150mm and +150mm simple lens set I bought to try my PST Mod2 out on the scope. I managed to set ...

Opticstar 80mm F5 and some solar playing.
Hi I saw a picture for a HAT which showed a PST Mod and a Quark after a Tele-centric. So if it works that way round will a Quark work in a collimated beam? And just to see I thought can you have 'best of both'. Yesterday I had a play setting up my 80mm F5 for tele-centric and collimation all at once...

Hi
Do the anti-reflection coatings on the SC corrector plate also reflect UV and IR?
RodAstro says lots of telescopes are not suitable for IR imaging bcause of the modern coatings on lenses doing this.
And also far blue like CAK.
Cheers. Andrew.

Re: Basic question about PST etalon to focus spacing.
Hi Just to clarify the front mounted PST collimating lens needs to be 200mm in front of the focal plane which will be about 400mm behind the back of the rear adapter plate on the SCT. So you need a low profile fucusser to allow even the low profile T2 Swiss front PST adapter to get the old position ...

Hi Thinking about it I could see more details as using a bigger scope. With clear space between them. And little branches off t...
